AI is the hot topic in Legal Tech
AI and it’s impact on the practice of law was “THE most talked about topic” at the ILTACON conference last week in Orlando. https://www.lawnext.com/2023/08/a-vibrant-iltacon-2023-reaffirmed-its-place-as-one-of-the-leading-legal-tech-conferences.html
So much so that two new surveys were released on exactly this topic during the conference. See below for links to each survey, but several key themes emerge from a careful review of the data.
The vast majority of lawyers understand that generative AI will have an impact on the law. 92% agree in the LexisNexis survey and up to 90% agree it will impact the practice of law in the Everlaw survey.
Not many lawyers are actually currently using AI in their legal practices today – 15% in LexisNexis survey and 12% in the Everlaw survey.
How do we close this gap? It’s likely that the subset of lawyers that are faster adopters will gain advantages over those the delay or even resist the inevitable changes. Analysis paralysis is also likely.
